Family Room : This striking seating area is evocative of the ideal 1950’s family room, with modern swivel chairs and cheerful colors. This comfortable and informal conversation area inspires a loungey spirit.

Dining Room Detail : A scene from the entry, a doorway into an alcove frames an antique Asian cabinet.

Dining Room : This dramatic dining room includes a Therien Studio “Silhouette” table with unique turned and quartered legs. The scroll backs on the Barbara Barry designed McGuire chairs are referenced in the printed linen curtains.

Living Room at Dusk : The living room offers a blend of informality with high-end finishes. The graphic rug was designed by SMDS, and was inspired by drawings of classic French gardens.

Library : Two overstuffed chairs and an ottoman form a perfect setting for a tête-à-tête. A bold stripe accentuates the vertical proportions of the room. Prussian blue silk wallpaper provides a backdrop for a collection of art, books and objects.

Living Room Detail : The family residence has a casual Mediterranean style inspired by Miller’s trips to seaside destinations in the south of France. The eclectic mix of sumptuous materials and elements give the impression of being collected over generations.

Media Room : The persimmon-colored media room includes a custom cabinet to hold a television and media components, while the other side is a computer station (enclosed by semi-transparent plastic panels). The room is playful, casual, and perfect for the kids.

Emma’s Room : The first daughter’s cheerful French modern bedroom includes a toile chair, custom cameo pillows on the trundle bed, painted-on French paneling and garlanding, and harlequin-patterned draperies.

Rose’s Room : An underwater sea theme was chosen for the client’s five-year-old daughter’s bedroom. The trundle bed, matching bookcase, and dresser are original designs by SMDS.

This house design by Brukoff Design Assoicates Inc (BDA). Designed in collaboration with House+House Architects of San Francisco, this 4400 square foot Hillsborough residence, is nestled into a south-facing slope, where all windows are oriented to the expansive view and deck.

By incorporating the architectural lighting design into the architectural scheme from it’s earliest inception, BDA were able to create spaces which, at night, recreate the wonderful natural light quality experienced during the daytime.

The contemporary interior design of this residence is reflected in the modulated ceiling shapes – as evidenced in the vaulted living/dining area, where warm maple paneling glows on the ceiling. Cherry cabinetry and granite counters continue from the Living/Dining Room into the Kitchen.
