Today’s professional interior designers are qualified by education, experience, and examination to enhance the function and quality of interior environments. Their mission is significant in today’s society for improving the quality of life, protecting the health, safety, and welfare of the public, and increasing productivity.


In the Interior Design program, students will learn foundation art and design skills to improve their artistic sensitivity, and gain knowledge and skills in the areas of drafting, space planning, history of interior design, materials, lighting, and residential as well as contract/commercial design. Through this, they will be able to analyze client needs and develop functional and artistic solutions for their built-in environments in accordance with codes and standards. The program also incorporates courses in 2-D and 3-D computer-aided design, computer rendering, 3-D modeling, and architectural detailing/working drawing, to present design ideas and communicate with other professional services.


Further, the program explores important issues such as universal design and human factors, and the business aspect of the profession, and other topics that are related to the interior design field. Graduates of the Interior Design program will be prepared for entry-level positions in all areas of design, including commercial and residential design, facilities design, computer-aided design/drafting, showroom management, exhibit design, specialty design in kitchen and bathroom and product lighting, and furniture design.


Overall, the Interior Design program offers a well-rounded curriculum strengthened with numerous computer-based courses, and graduates will be competent to meet the current demands for the profession.


Graduation Requirements

To receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design, students must complete a minimum of 192 quarter credits with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.
