Barbie Cafe Interior Design by Slade Architecture

The world largest Barbie Flagship store and café built on the 35,000 square foot areas and most comprehensive collection of Barbie dolls and licensed Barbie products. The design concept of this store is how to make a figure where “Barbie is hero”; expression Barbie as a global lifestyle brand by building on the brand historical link to fashion.

All the exterior, interior, fixtures and furnishings are designed by Slade Architecture. It’s designed to create a sleek, fun, unapologetically feminine interpretation of Barbie: past, present, and future. The main color of this store interior and exterior is pink expressing Barbie’s cutting-edge fashion sense and history.

For the new facade, Slade Architecture combined references to product packaging, decorative arts, fashion and architectural iconography to create a modern identity for the store.

The facade is made of two layers: molded, translucent polycarbonate interior panels and flat exterior glass panels printed with a whimsical lattice frit pattern. Slade collaborated with designers at BIG, who created the final exterior frit graphics. The two layers reinforce each other visually and interact dynamically through reflection, shadow and distortion.

The Barbie Cafe, a beautiful restaurant and gelato bar on the top floor, offers guests the opportunity to take a break and enjoy both local comfort food and Barbie-inspired refreshments. Mattel and David Laris Concept planned both the Fashion Cafe and the Barbie Cafe. Both spaces were designed by Slade Architecture.

Brooklyn Brownstone by 1100 Architect

This project encompasses the 7,200 square-foot renovation of a 5-story residence in Brooklyn.

The aim of this renovation was to create a family home that fully integrates the site’s rear garden into the plan of the house, while creating both familial and private spaces. Occupying the existing footprint, the new building employs glass and aluminum to create a more open and continuous feeling in the back of the house.

These materials, in addition to a new staircase connecting the garden and the second floor, firmly establish the garden as an extension of the house and as a communal location.

Using green roof technology, a private garden accessible from the master bedroom creates a small, personal outdoor space. Inside, the house is designed to fit the needs of the family. Home office space, rooms for two children, and a fifth-floor playroom are all elements of this functional, comfortable, and stylish space.

TREGUNTER ROAD HOUSE by Voon Wong and Benson Saw

This is the largest project completed to date by the practice with an overall construction budget of $3 million, with a complete interior rebuild behind the existing façade. The building had a typical layout for a London Victorian town house. Their remodelling emphasised the division between the front of the house (the public side) and the back of the house (the private side) with the garden at the back of the house acting as a focal point for the private rooms. This involved changing the layout and location of the principal staircase and the subsequent spaces that lead off it. This change resulted in wider well proportioned spaces that are lit by the windows along the full width of the house. Space, light and the use of beautiful and luxurious materials were the tools to create the sequence of interesting and liveable spaces.

The house was totally demolished internally and now comprises: a family room within a new extension in the basement, as well as a kitchen and formal dining room; a drawing room and study on the ground floor; a master bedroom suite on the first floor; the second floor with three additional bedrooms; the top floor containing a guest suite and the plant room. The five floors are all linked by a central staircase that is lit overhead by a skylight.

This is the third project that the practice has completed for this client, an interior designer and art collector. The client’s aim was to create a theme of restrained luxury and eclecticism. Although the scale of the project was large for the practice, the understanding of detailing and use of materials that comes from a multidisciplinary approach was very beneficial. The client along with the architect and designer were keen to explore new materials as well as rediscover traditional ones. Voon Wong and Benson Saw have an excellent network of contacts from their product design experience to draw upon.

Venetian plaster was used extensively for the accent walls to provide a beautiful surface sheen. Custom balustrades and light fittings were cast in bronze. Acrylic panels, shelving and handrails concealed LED light fittings. This combination of new materials alongside the traditional was the key to creating a sense of understated luxury in a contemporary but enduring set of spaces.

The client chose fabrics and furniture and art pieces to emphasise this theme: rugs in silk, cashmere curtains, Swarovski crystal chandeliers and upholstery fabrics in silk velvets. Furniture ranges from Mies van der Rohe day beds, Jean Michel Frank sofas, Yves Klein coffee tables alongside many custom designed pieces by the client herself and the architect.

The practice worked closely with the landscape architects del Buono Gazerwitz to create the rear garden. The south facing garden is the focal point of the rear of the house and is created so that the architectural elements of the basement extension and the external spaces are perceived as a unity. In fine weather the doors of the Family Room can be completely pushed back so that the boundary between the inside and outside is completely removed. The patio seating, water feature, planting and central lawn all contribute to the creation of an outdoor room that is a harmonious extension of the extended basement.

Voon Wong and Benson Saw are a pair of London based designers that have been working together since 2001. Their work has been featured in exhibitions in London, Milan and Singapore. The Loop lamp from 2003 was nominated for the Compasso D’Oro and is now manufactured by Fontana Arte. The ELma vases from the EL light series won the OXO Peugeot Design award. They have completed architecture and interior design projects in Shanghai, London, Hong Kong and Singapore. As well as numerous projects in London and Singapore, their current major project is the master plan of a new factory for a high quality bone china manufacturer outside Beijing. They are also cooperating with this manufacturer to design a new collection of bone china table ware to be launched later this year at an exhibition in London.

Helicopter interior design by Versace

Versace’s done a Lamborghini and they’ve designed jet interiors, so their next move is an easy guess. The Italian design house is taking on the whirlibird. Fashion Week Daily reports that Versace is teaming up with fellow Italian company, Agusta Westland to create a line of private helicopter interiors. Helicopter owners will be allowed to personalize the decor of the craft. Given what we’ve seen in the jets and cars I’m guessing Versace copters will have black and white leather and the classic Greek key design Versace is known for.

The Versace style uses significant elements of the great classic tradition that has always been a source of inspiration for the company, mixed with a very modern approach to elegance and comfort. The aim of Versace and its team of designers is to focus on research, creative development and accurate accomplishment of every detail of the helicopter’s interior.

The Versace designed interiors are produced by AgustaWestland using the finest materials and highest standards of craftsmanship, enabling AgustaWestland to offers its customers the ultimate in terms of luxury and comfort as well as functionality and security. The Versace interior is additional to the several other interior configurations offered by AgustaWestland for its VIP/Corporate range of products.

Dolce & Gabbana Gold : Restaurant design by Dolce & Gabbana

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana opened a restaurant and bar called Gold in the fall, joining Giorgio Armani who already had a café, restaurant, bookstore and a nightclub called Privé, housed in his mega Armani store on Via Manzoni. The complex is rumoured to be the site of an upcoming Armani hotel. I think, overall design excellence then here are some photos to share.

Barcode : Bar design by Woods Bagot

Barcode is a new bar and club in Vauxhall, LONDON that takes sustainability to the next level. It was designed by Rob Steul, Principal at Woods Bagot, an international architectural firm, on behalf of Troy Wears, owner of Bar Code.

The club is situated in the Vauxhall Arches, a site that is Grade 1 listed and previously owned by Railtrack. As such, Rob’s mission was to envision a first-rate clubbing experience that could be built-up around the existing fixtures.

Most clubs require air-conditioning to manage the heat given off by the lighting system, but Bar Code uses LEDs, which emit virtually no heat at all. The club uses natural ventilation and only in the hottest nights in July is air-conditioning required that make the build environmentally friendly.

Cosmetic Surgery in Chic

If you go to hospital or some clinic, you will see plain interior design. But If you go to “Skin” you will meet new world of costmetic surgery. Skin is a new cosmetic surgery in Florence, Italy. The interior, designed by Michael Young and Katrin Olina. It’s a conversion of an old building, is in the historic Borgo San Jacopo district in central Florence. I am very impress about design and wish you love it too.

Young and Olina previously collaborated on the Dr James Plastic Surgery in Taipei, Taiwan.

Some of the walls are made in Corian with CNC technology.

Young designed the interior and Olina created the artwork and decorative surfaces, which make extensive use of Corian.
