10 luxurious bathroom by Architectural Digest

In designer Ralph Lauren’s Norman-style stone manor house in Bedford, NY, a circular mahogany paneled hall leads to the master bath, part of the Laurens’ five-room upstairs master suite. The couple chose white marble for the space, which overlooks the grounds, and incorporated a mirrored wall and an 18th-century mantelpiece.

Seeking to update their newly acquired 1981 Hamptons getaway, a Manhattan couple looked to Shelton, Mindel & Associates. In the master bath, which the architects preconceived, a freestanding tiled wall “divides areas with a sense of the larger space,” says Mindel. The terrazzo-tile floor and the Shelton, Mindel & Associates-designed vanity lighting, tub, fittings and sinks are all from Waterworks.

“It’s a Balinese pavilion on the Kohala Coast,” Paul Vincent Wiseman says of the house he and his associate Timmie Friend designed with architect Robert Glazier on the Big Island of Hawaii for a couple. For the master bath, semitransparent slatted screens designed by Wiseman frame the his-and-her vanities in the master bath. The stool is Javanese.

“As a landscape abstraction, it has no expression of façade; rather, it’s a series of slope extensions,” Antoine Predock says of a Colorado house he designed. Tucked into the northeast corner of the house, the master bath looks onto a grove of aspens.

On the border of Nairobi National Park, former diplomat Paul Verleysen built a cluster of “tree houses” on stilts for guests. A canoe, lined with fiberglass, serves as a tub in the bath. A wrought iron chandelier that was forged on-site hangs above.

Designer Xorin Balbes and architect Paul Ashley, of TempleHome in Los Angeles, transformed a Hollywood Hills residence, carving out an airier living space that emphasizes the connection between the inside and the outside. The master bath was updated with glass and marble. Walker Zanger bath and shower tiles.

Designer Mitchell Turnbough infused venture capitalist David Kronfeld’s Chicago penthouse with striking details. Green onyx distinguishes the surfaces in the master bath. Boxes near sink, gold-plated tub fittings and tray on tub, Sherle Wagner.

Architect Richard Landry, of Landry Design Group, “adapted modernist philosophies” for a Los Angeles house owned by Jack and Alice Berberian. The spalike master bath incorporates limestone walls, floors and countertops.

London-based Tiggy Butler restored the original splendor of an early-18th-century terrace house built in the fashionable Mayfair district of London. “I wanted the colors to recall the warm, golden sand of a Greek island beach,” Butler says of the master bath, originally an entrance hall to a room for entertaining. “The wonderful 18th-century mantelpiece was found in situ.” The wall lights and mirror are from Vaughan.

Those are awesome bathroom designs! Man, it got my imagination gears working again. Maybe we should do a little remodeling for our house in Minneapolis, with the assist of the expert remodelers, of course.
